Blood Pressure Lowering Without Drugs

Blood pressure is a common problem that is faced by many people these days. There are three stages of blood pressure. Recognising these stages is necessary if you want to find a solution to your blood pressure issues. Normal blood pressure of a healthy human is 120/80 mm Hg. Any reading that exceeds this mark is known as high blood pressure or hypertension, while the one that is below it is called low blood pressure. Hypertension is a sign that there is need for a change in the lifestyle of an individual. Heart attacks, strokes and kidney complaints are some of the hazardous diseases that a hypertension patient might have to face if the condition worsens. If the reading of the patient is between 120/80 mm Hg and 139/89 mm Hg, it can be cured by a little change in the lifestyle without taking the help of any drug. However, if the reading exceeds 140/90 mm Hg, it becomes necessary to take drugs to keep a check on the soaring blood pressure.

There are many ways in which blood pressure can be lowered without taking drugs:

  1. Change in lifestyle— Taking a balanced and healthy diet along with regular exercising is of great help. Regular exercise not only reduces blood pressure, but also controls weight which also, otherwise, contributes to high blood pressure. The patient should also avoid taking alcohol or smoking. The food that is consumed should be fresh whether a fruit or a vegetable. Fibre, soluble fibre and whole grains are important food items that should be a part of your diet. Red tomatoes are also very helpful in treating high blood pressure.
  2. Minerals and Vitamins— Both the things are essential for a healthy body. While Vitamin B and Vitamin C are the important vitamins, potassium, calcium and magnesium are the necessary minerals. Eating of saturated fats should be avoided. Polyunsaturated fats can be taken instead. This reduces the cholesterol and fat intake that further lowers the blood pressure.
  3. Reduce stress— Stress is one of the important reasons that increase blood pressure. So, try to involve yourself in activities that interest you and give you pleasure like listening to music, gardening, painting or any other thing, to lower blood pressure.

These are a few main points that can reduce your blood pressure to a great extent. For other details, you can visit www.resperate-uk.co.uk. Some other precautions that can be taken are to avoid excess intake of salty foods or salt and to drink a lot of water.
